About

Hey, I’m Vince, I’m a software engineer with over 10 years of experience.

Since December 2018, I’ve been building mobile apps with Flutter full-time. I started because it was the best way to ship for both Android and iOS. I stayed for Dart. It’s simple, fast, and easy to reason about.

I currently work at ClickUp and I’m working on their Flutter apps. Before that, I worked at an international retail company and a small smart home startup.

Along the way, I’ve organized meetups in Munich, given talks, hosted a podcast, and contributed to open source.

Before Flutter, I spent several years working across the stack: building web frontends with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AngularJS, and Vue.js, writing backend services in Node.js, Java, Python, and SQL, and working on data pipelines with Cassandra, Kafka, and Storm. Having worked across so many layers of the stack helps me navigate whatever I’m building.

I studied Physics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Along with physics, math, numerical methods, and algebra, we got hands-on with programming (C, C++, CUDA, C#, Java, MATLAB, IDL, \(\LaTeX\), and more). That’s when I realized I actually really enjoyed programming. I taught myself web development, starting with the frontend, and eventually landed my first developer job.

I’m currently learning Rust. It’s fast, reliable, productive, and runs everywhere: backends, CLIs, embedded, even the browser. I especially enjoy the type system, and the community’s focus on correctness and performance. I’m also exploring blockchain technologies and the ideas behind decentralized finance. On the side, I like tinkering with my dev setup: terminal workflows, the Helix editor, that sort of thing.

I’m lucky to live in the Bavarian Forest with my beautiful wife and two precious toddlers. They’re the best part of my life.

When I find the time (which isn’t often), I enjoy running, cooking, experimenting with the keto diet, and working in the garden. I speak Hungarian, English, and Spanish, and I’m working on my German.
